All about the
Quiznos commercial, the "Sprungmonkies" as they're referred to on the site
rathergood.com are trying to capitalize on the Kitten's success.
One of my favorite clips is The Viking Kittens, to the tune of Led Zeppelin - Immigrant Song.
I also found a pretty nifty little
comment script that I just may implement.

Nothing says "we screwed up" like pizza.
Here's a pretty
neat little gift, if you like sticky brains in a petri dish. If anyone would like to buy me parts from

I just got back from VT - a few days of snowmobiling, snowboarding... but more about that later.
I'm currently reading: The DaVinci Code
My brother got me hooked. He had a copy sitting around on loan from a friend. I read 200 pages the first night I was there.
I was checking out some DaVinci artwork after some particularly enticing observations in the book. If you've read it, you know what I mean.
Leonardo DaVinci - Artwork
Last Supper - Restored
Last Supper - Zoom
...and
this sort of stuff is a hell of a lot more interesting now. There's a very interesting point in the book worth noting -- the astrological sign for the first 2000 years is "pieces" -- I believe due to Venus, or compared to Venus. Well the "End of Days" suggested the end of the era of Christ - the sign of pieces just recently came to an end. Hence: the proclamations of the world ending in the year 2000.
If you're familiar with Wicca or Druidic religion, you know that the "sacred female" is what everything is based on. There is balanced male/female (yin/yang) or a female-only, but both contain 100% more female-deity then Christianity. What if it was supposed to be there, but since it wasn't the POV that was recorded, it's not what is taught.
That thought -- that this guy knew what was what, basic human rules to base a society on -- is what fascinates me about this book. I know it's based loosely on fact, it's fiction and there are many many liberties... but I just can't help getting excited thinking there's a lot that the Church, as a protective parent might, has "hidden some truths" (lied) about how things should be. The reason? So they would be better in control of society and it's money.
I am somewhat biased, however. I was very early on suspicious of all this church stuff. I decided to do some alternative study on Wicca I was threatened, punished, and forbidden to continue studying by my Mother once she found out I had been reading about it.
It was a difficult time and didn't help reinforce my views on religion.
This book proposes that it takes male/female to form a whole, that we are of equal parts -- and this is what Jesus taught.
Not to be preachy towards religion, only about the book =]

I drove up to my brother's today after stopping for the night at my Mom's. She's got a condo up in VT, in Jericho. It's about 4 hours north up 91/89. My brother is especially far, 20 minutes north-er. ;) He lives in Fletcher, right down the street from the house where I lived until I was about 3 or so.
He's up on the side of a mountain, built his own house, and it runs on solar power and gas. How's that for "out of the way"?
Take a look at my fotopage for
pictures.
We settled in, he made some food -- and we headed out to try out the trails on the snowmobiles. What started as a 5 minute loop ended up being a two hour jaunt around the local woods and V.A.S.T. trails. I haven't been snomobiling in a couple years, maybe a good 4 or so. It was a blast - there were so many different trails spewing in all directions. They'd been used a lot, and recently -- like snow-highways through the woods, twisting and turning, winding their way up one mountain and down another... amazing =]
We're going to go grab some food downtown at the local grill, grab a drink or two, maybe play some pool. It's and early bedtime tonight through -- for snowboarding tomorrow.
(
note: I didn't actually get to sleep until well after 12 -- DaVinci Code sucked me in)

Today was a fun day at the mall.
It just so happened that everything interesting was in relation to theft.
I was working at 5, went in a tad early and grabbed a few sodas at CVS. While I was checking out, the girl at the register was relaying this story to my clerk:
"So he just looked all surprised and dumb when it went off. He kind just stood there.
I said - could you come here?
He said - what? and just looked all dumb.
Turns out he stole some condoms, I mean c'mon, it's got a sensor right on it.
So he asks me if they can buy them.
Of course you can buy them.
Oh -- we thought we couldn't, because they were pretty young..."
No kids -- there's no age limit on condoms, they'd rather have you be safe, now cough up the $4.50
A bit later on there was this whole cloak and dagger thing goin down. I had this girl about my age pretty much do the whole "psssst" and duck back out the front door. I looked confused I'm sure, they motioned for me to go out to the front door. I was rolling the possibility of being jumped around in my head for a brief seccond, then realized there was no harm in at least listening to them.
There was a guy as well, quite a bit older, maybe 38 or so -- both were in street clothes, so I wasn't quite sure if they were loss prevention for some store in the mall.
They were all excited about two girls -- I wasn't sure what these people were up to, if not loss prevention then what? They were framing someone for shoplifting? I did as they requested and checked out the fitting rooms to be sure they didn't grab anything. We had locked them all earlier, so nothing.
Next thing I know the girl popped up over to my right, I thought "she's really good at this" and meandered over in that direction.
"Could you at least look at the bag, see if it's got anything in it, because it was empty when they came into our store"
Ok -- I could do that, I walked by them and sure enough the Old Navy bag they were toting was certainly weighted -- there was something.
I let her know, she thanked me and was gone.
About an hour later we received a few shirts back, turns out they nabbed them a little bit after they left our store.
It was all so exciting with the hiding, and the sneaking...
..and then there was this couple who came in, the guy was somewhat hanging on the woman, she'd allow it, then pull away - toying. I was nearby, just folding - dum de dum dum... and they were looking at some clothes and joking.
He puts his arm around her again and I hear him say - you never gave me a reason...
Yeah I did... you have a wife, a WIFE.
He just kinda brushed it off, and as they walked out the door he was still hanging on her.
Ahh to be a fly on the wall.

Well last night was quite the night -- we started about 3 or so, went out to eat at spaghetti Freddy's.
It was a decent dinner, I would give them about 3 out of 5 stars. The atmosphere was nice, and close to everything being located in downtown Springfield. The waitress didn't know wines at all, but was certainly nice enough. The salad and breadsticks were good, though the food itself was a tad watery.
We then jaunted off to Boston Billiards to play a bit of pool and get some more drinks.
We played for a few hours then stopped in to visit my friend @ Nextel at the mall for a few, said hello, and we were off again.
We stopped back at home to kill about an hour or so then headed off to Cobolt on Worthington to see my friend spin. From there on I didn't stop dancing.
Who knew how much attention I'd attract. I wasn't dancing any differently then I do anywhere else, but for some reason it was well received. Rachel got a few complements on my dancing (she was watching for most of it) and I had more then one frisky lass try to get all up on me. ;)
I had grabbed a CD from my car at the beginning of the night as I had the new Outcast album on MP3, which includes the appropriate "Happy Valentine's Day". He worked that one in right at the end. I felt all special because I had attributed to an already great set. In fact, something odd about the set. We had already heard about 5 of the songs included in the set that night at pool. I had chosen a few, but mainly they were chosen by others, or at random by the jukebox. They were fairly eclectic too -- like "Steve Miller Band - Abracadabra". The rest are lost to me by now, but as they were playing they tied the evening together.
We went home at the end of the night, tired and happy, and hung out for a bit with a few friends back at the pad. After everyone left we ended up talking for a while, one of those casual "how did we get to this conversation" kind of talks... a good way to wind things down, talking of each other and the future.

What's one to do for Valentines Day?
The traditional guy may reply as such:
Pick her up with flowers, possibly candy.
Go to a nice restaurant, opening the doors and being as gentlemanly as possible.
Speak of pleasant relationship conversation, forward in nature.
Dance.
Get home with the teddy bear / teddy present and... off to the "boudauh".
Is that enough -- do you have to find a card, a dozen roses?
Are there required commitments, unspoken but expected?
I don't think I'm doing very well thus far.
I keep getting caught up in the future, my goals -- and how all this is supposed to fit together. Where am I going to be in 5 years? Still around here, doing the same thing? Will I find some great job somewhere in a far-away city? I'm so unsure of my life, fearing a year in advance. I have many puzzle pieces, whole sections fit together, but there's some missing sections that may allow me to view it as a whole.
I'm fucked and ranting right now... so probobly not worth it to continue. I feel like I mean it all, but there's something just not working for me. So many positives, and only a few negatives. What timing.

I just heard from my friend today - he had a bit of a run-in last night.
He's been living in Framingham area since he graduated from college. He lives in a nice upscale apartment, a place you wouldn't expect anything like what happened to happen.
Him and his girlfriend were sitting, watching TV when there was a knock on the door. She went to answer it. Two guys of guessable ethnicity pushed their way in the door -- my friend charged at them, pushing them out -- until they pulled out a gun.
Robbed at gunpoint -- by someone who's balls engorge at the touch of steel. They cooperated, as anyone would. If you have a choice between your life and your stuff -- fuck it, I'd give anything. What good is anything else going to do if you're dead?
Thankfully I've never been in that position. I know how it feels to be out of some material possessions, quite a few times, in fact. They've always taken the cowardly way out, though, stealing right out from under my nose. Twice I was out -- the other time I was sleeping. I suppose any of those times it could have escalated had I come home sooner then expected, or not attributed the noise to someone else in the house. I'm not sure what I would have done.
There are precautions I didn't take, but make up for that now by over-compensating in order to feel secure. It's a scary world out there. I always thought my father was crazy, being so paranoid about locking doors, windows, and anything else no matter how long we were gone. I mean, we lived in the country, hardly anyone around -- who's going to rob our little modest house anyway? He had lived all over, and had his share of bad experiences. I wish he'd actually have shared some of those so that I might have understood better, but for reasons he didn't say, or most likely just didn't remember -- he never went into it.
So I had to learn -- the hard way, on my own.
It's necessary, no matter where you live. I've picked it up early, I think. That's just the way it is, how you have to do it if you don't ever want to come home to a ransacked home... or worse.

So I've been sucked into the friend-connection sites. I'm not even sure what to call them, the genre needs a name.
www.friendster.com ~ one of the first, pretty slow, widest userbase
www.myspace.com ~ includes a journal, many pluses, faster
www.orkut.com ~ best I've come across thus far, fast, looks pretty, no journal but everyone I know is on it =]
So give them a shot, it's a lot of fun, and if you want to find me try josh @ synthetic-x.com as the email.

I am drawing up plans for 2 cable modems with load balancing.
1 computer with 3 NICS, taking in 2, outputting 1 to the rest of the network which balances the load between the two modems.
I'm not even sure if
this would work to connect cable modems directly.
Any suggestions?
I found

this one is a bit more within my price range.
I've been looking for a way to attach AC3s (direct DVD audio) to AVI files for playback, forgoing a VBR MP3 for the original multi-channel audio. I finally searched for the right thing.
Download this for it to work.

Who wouldn't be
drawn in by this title? I think it was the exclamation point, yeah... that's it. I'm excited by punctuation.
Probable Philosophy major... so does that mean that previous Philosophy majors were improbable, or just not marketable? ;) Not to poke fun, but when was the last time you saw a professional Philosopher? At least now that it's probable -- they ought to let you know what kind of a life you're in for, eh?
I was intrigued by the title -- wanted to know if this person was really serious. It turns out she's not, she's aware of the whole
stigma she's feeding... and it certainly seems to be working for her as far as traffic.
(though it's not exactly the pick of the philosophical litter -- it's what you get when people are looking for a hot chick, and they get philosophy... so they try their hand at it) .:snicker:.
At any rate: You go girl.
Is synthetic-abercrombie.com available?
I'm also considering a busty picture of myself to possibly up my traffic,
what d'ya think?
