I just got back from VT - a few days of snowmobiling, snowboarding... but more about that later.

I'm currently reading: The DaVinci Code
My brother got me hooked. He had a copy sitting around on loan from a friend. I read 200 pages the first night I was there.

I was checking out some DaVinci artwork after some particularly enticing observations in the book. If you've read it, you know what I mean.

...and this sort of stuff is a hell of a lot more interesting now. There's a very interesting point in the book worth noting -- the astrological sign for the first 2000 years is "pieces" -- I believe due to Venus, or compared to Venus. Well the "End of Days" suggested the end of the era of Christ - the sign of pieces just recently came to an end. Hence: the proclamations of the world ending in the year 2000.

If you're familiar with Wicca or Druidic religion, you know that the "sacred female" is what everything is based on. There is balanced male/female (yin/yang) or a female-only, but both contain 100% more female-deity then Christianity. What if it was supposed to be there, but since it wasn't the POV that was recorded, it's not what is taught.
That thought -- that this guy knew what was what, basic human rules to base a society on -- is what fascinates me about this book. I know it's based loosely on fact, it's fiction and there are many many liberties... but I just can't help getting excited thinking there's a lot that the Church, as a protective parent might, has "hidden some truths" (lied) about how things should be. The reason? So they would be better in control of society and it's money.

I am somewhat biased, however. I was very early on suspicious of all this church stuff. I decided to do some alternative study on Wicca I was threatened, punished, and forbidden to continue studying by my Mother once she found out I had been reading about it.
It was a difficult time and didn't help reinforce my views on religion.

This book proposes that it takes male/female to form a whole, that we are of equal parts -- and this is what Jesus taught.

Not to be preachy towards religion, only about the book =]
