OK -- I had given up on Yahoo!'s URLs cause they're all weird and were causing issues. This one looks alright and is
too good too pass up.

So today is great! The party was kickin' this weekend. There were many great people, everyone was considerate... (I didn't find any surprises the next morning (unless they hid them really well)) and we all had a blast. The "
Jungle Juice" as it was so affectionately called was a hit... and everyone was plumb puddin by the end of the night.
Thanks to everyone who came!
I'm happy today because I spent yesterday evening all nervous regarding my Database Systems test. I had gotten the practice tests previously, looked them over, checked my answers... but there were still some issues with some of the questions. I did a quick read-through before class of the chapter that gave me the most issues, but that was the extent of my studying. I spent too long on my COBOL program, by the time I was through -- it was time for me to go to bed.
I was all worried about it, and I got a 96! Ya gotta love the instant gratification you get from online tests. =]
So I'm off to my Dad's later on today for a little b-day get-together. I like going to my Dad's, but sometimes it can be a little boring. I get restless after a while... always thinking of everything else I need to do back at home. I at least get to play with Buffy -- my dad's Golden Retreiver (his Xmas present last year). She's hyper... and so funny. She'll wrestle with the cat, just pin her down with her head -- the cat loves it, plays back - batts her on the head. She'll also jump up on your lap on the couch or chair... stomp all over you, usually sit down for 5 minutes then walk halfway off with her butt still resting on your lap... and just stand with her front legs for a bit -- and meander off.
I wish I had room for a dog, I love my kitty though -- when I have my own house.
Things with the house-mates don't seem to be improving. I haven't said anything yet - inquired as to what might be the issue there at home and try and solve it. Ironically it seems cleanliness is one of the issues? His policy seems to be "I didn't make it - someone else will clean it" but he doesn't clean what he does make either!
I did say something to Bill and he said he wasn't moving. I met a few of Bill's friends at the party too, they're cool shit... down to earth, polite, and considerate. I at least feel like I'm not losing everyone -- and it's not even close yet, I shouldn't worry.
At any rate, I'm feeling much better after this weekend. ^-^

post://200066384/
I heard some news last night, and I took it personally.
I probably shouldn't have as they gave valid reasons, but I can't help thinking it's got something to do with my own actions.
Apparently Phil was approached by the landlord about moving over to that side with a rent-a-room rate (utils included, etc). He would get her bedroom (the same as mine on the other side) and she would move to another room. Shortly after Ken told me this he then said he would be looking for a place sometime in the summer. He cited the heating costs, the size of the place (as in surface area requiring cleaning), and the electricity.
Granted, we have issues with the electricity. Most of the rooms are on the same circuit -- but when you have a
refrigerator running off of the same circuit as a large amped fan, TVs, computers, and it cuts out when plugging in a vacuum... consider yourself lucky. As far as the size... where is he going to get a place to wrestle when he's drunk, blast his music, and have a driveway to park in? I've been out there, I've seen the places... and they don't exist. From his point of view, his parents are paying for it while he's in school, so he figures it's no big deal.
He's also talking to Bill, I could hear them talking while I was trying to get to sleep... getting just as excited as he was when he first brought up us finding a place to live.
That's the part that makes me sad. We discussed staying in this place for a long time. The heat sucks, but it's manageable in the winter, especially with 4 people. You have to do things like close the window... not have a fan sucking all the hot air right out the top of the house if you want to save money. I just don't understand it. We get along well enough, he'll do his 20% of let's say... cleaning, after everyone else has done 50%, always lagging behind, and claiming he's doing more then his share.
I can't win with the guy... but we get along fine for where we live. He does get spurts of energy every great once in a while and he'll clean here and there.
It's like I'm a placeholder for everyone. I'm fine as long as there's nothing better, as soon as the better opportunity comes along... screw me. I am taking it personally, I take it as an issue against my personality. I feel I'm a very fair person. I am a very chill person (most of the time... I still have my occasional
huffies) and it's hard to find those that you trust enough to live with.
So here I am feeling all secure and people want to take the blanket out from under me again. Am I the only one who wants to live in a place as long as I can? A new place is all well and good, but after 3 or 4 moves now... I don't want to do it again until I'm in a house of my own, preferably with a woman I feel at ease with.
I'm always searching for those that I can put my trust in, that won't let me down as I've been before. I try so hard to be a good friend in return, to do as I would have done to me... and it really doesn't seem to get me all that far. Granted... a bit melodramatic, but I can see they're just searching for the best they can get. They don't realize how well they've got it, I've been quite a few places... and this is by-far the best place I've ever had. It's perfect, and my dreams of having a bunch of friends hanging out and living together... just didn't become realized. Would it be different if I was home all the time? I don't think so, I used to be... and people slowly migrated to their own places instead of hanging out in the living room like extroverted people normally would. I live in a house of introverts, with myself being the most extroverted of the introverts.
I can always hold him to the lease if I want to get official about it, and well I should -- I made a legal agreement to occupy this place, with Ken for at least a year. Officially. Unofficially were the promises of "many years". An though the heat and other bills are issues, I'm sure -- I still wonder if there's things they haven't said... that they might never say, and I will have to just wonder if there actually
was anything. I want to just ask, but that's putting myself in a position to be potentially criticized. I can take it -- but I don't think I can change it.
I figured out that to balance out the heat and electricity I'd have to charge about $75-100 a week for a room. Where I don't necessarily want people in and out, charging by the week helps keep the rent on a steady payment plan. If someone wants to pay me all 4 weeks at once -- that's fine with me. I originally set out to do that, but everyone wanted an equal shake, everything split 4 ways... and they had no idea as to how difficult that would be.
I'll mention the possibility to a few people, but the reality of the situation is that if Phil moves over there he will certainly have conflict with the landlord, he doesn't respect her or the fact that she's deaf and needs common courtesy such as speaking to her while looking at her. He's unemployed, one thing I'm glad will be off of my shoulders -- always worrying if he'll make the rent payment, if his unemployment check came and if he hasn't already spent it all. The other part -- with Ken moving out (and I'm sure he'll have Bill in tow) is that he won't be able to find the place that he is looking for - it doesn't exist for under $1500 a month. That's not something that a pizza delivery guy can afford. He might look around, he might try really hard... and he'll most likely end up staying after putting me through an emotional roller-coaster of if and when he's actually moving out.
I probably won't go back to school in the fall. I'll try and squeeze in a course or two over the summer, maybe an online class. With working, though -- I just can't do it all at once. I remember when I used to have the time to sit at my computer, learn some new HTML, web design, graphic, or video/DVD projects. That's more of my idea of fun, programming is something I can do, and will pay the bills while I do what makes me happy in my off-time.
So here I am, another birthday, another year older -- and contemplating where my life is going and how to appropriate what's given to me to work with.

[ begin school ramble ]
There's so much I have yet to do for school and the like -- mainly my COBOL programming.
I just can't seem to get the time to sit there and play with it. I have the 2nd program written, we ought to be on the 3rd... and I'm still working the kinks out of what I've got. I am supposed to write a flow-chart first... but I don't really know what goes on it. I end up getting way too detailed and might as well be writing down the code.
I know I have a alphanumeric value that needs to be read as a numeric... just don't know where.
Database Systems is flowing, I've got the gist -- it's just sooo dry, and one word can change the whole meaning. I have to read the questions on the practice test(s) over and over to be sure it says what I think it does. I hate it when they try and trick you, it's hard enough as it is...
Accounting; I've got that, no prob... but like yesterday I skipped it - didn't have my homework done so figured I'd be all slick, skip it and hand it in today. I did it last night, no prob - just took a while, but surprise: he wouldn't take it today.
...and the homework which I neglected to get from my friend who actually went yesterday -- was to be handed in today. I missed 2 assignments when I could have just missed 1 if I went. Can't do much about it know, but that'll show me =]~

Happy birthday to me!
I went to my 1st class, it got out early so I skipped my 2nd to go do some insurance stuff. I got home, did some yard work, and cleaned the house... hung out for a bit, did some homework, and went to bed. I had taken the day off from work just so I wouldn't have to work on my birthday. It was good to have a break, helped wind down from vacation... when I had all this time free, but still not enough.
I'm preparing for the weekend, cleaning the house was part of that... it'll be one of the first gatherings at the house -- we'll see how it goes =]

This reporter is having troubles,
this one is a chilling entry.
These images and accounts are hurting so much.
I had my Hepatitis B shot yesterday -- it's all been downhill from there.
Well, not really - I went to classes, then hung out in the park with Phil and Becca when I got out -- so it wasn't
all bad. We threw around the aerobie and frisbee for a while. I ran around with sandles and feet on the grass. It was a little chilly by the end of the afternoon... but it was so welcome. It's been a long winter.
I keep wanting to blame my floating head on the shot I got. I'm not sure if that can happen... but I've been pretty out of it the past day or so.

I don't know how the war is going, it's getting tricky. Iraq's getting tricky. It's not right... but they are fighting as a people. We have people who elected to fight. They're using whatever they can.
I'm somewhat worried about
this. It's like seeing flyers on telephone poles with your "
personal" information -- and advertising to join in the battle against you.
I don't know the progress of the world (I meant war, but world works too) at this point. It's spring out, that makes me happy... but I have a little smudge on my soul -- to go with my habbit of being melodramatic.
I'm saddened by the pictures of people hurt due to bombing, hurt by the thought of people ambushing by looking like they're giving up, and by recent events in my own life -- all durring the usually happy time of spring and my birthday.
There's so much that I can't change.

I love being tested, it's so much fun.
I get a whole bunch of good, the good gets better... then it's bad, hiss, bad, bad.
It tests my patience, my coping, my outlook, and my temper. There are things that you can use with hindsight to learn... and some things that you may wish you weren't there at that time -- but it happened, and there's nothing you can do about it. It's just another bothersome little tidbit of life.
When you can see the good tidbits through the bad tidbits... it makes it a little easier.
I stayed calm, collected, and looked at it the best I could as it could have been worse. I had everything in hand, and all it takes is time.

Well I'm back... and at work -- yesterday was a loooooong day, but I got home. =]
It was less then a happy return, all sorts of people were confused and mad and everyone had their theories and bits of information that they pieced together to make a sucessful soap opera. .:sigh:.
It's probably the end of things with Nicole by now... I hope she changes her mind, but you can't argue with someone when they've already planned it all out in their head before even talking to you.
I have the whole trip typed out, just have to edit and post it along with my pictures from the trip.
That means I have to get my web stuff together again -- it's still there on my PC, but have to make sure I have the current pages, which means searching my backup disks from the old laptop. My data is organized much like my life - everywhere. =]
The trip was great, it was so nice - 80+ the whole time I was there, a short spurt of rain on Wednesday but even that only lasted momentarily. I got lost a few times on the god-awful highways... the condition was ok, but mainly the design is god-awful.
Stay tuned for more updates, hopefully this evening after I catch up on some COBOL programming ;)

Well, speak of the devil... a day after setting up some 'sponsors' my fore-sight has proven itself. I was notified today that I've begun to go over quota. My web-host gives me so much bandwidth (transfer, in bytes) per yearly fee. I renewed about 5 or 6 months ago... and am already over. I've come to the realization that this hobby (I'd like to give it more legitimacy then that... but it's really what it boils down to) is going to start costing me money.
Granted, the site isn't exactly graphicly-lean... but that's what makes it special. It's like a virtual portal into my brain, my synapses firing through the space that is synthetic-x. Ok... maybe that's a tad dramatic, but it's an art -- dammit.
I truly enjoy doing this, it gets things off my mind... shares my ideas, and gives others a portal to things they might otherwise be un-aware of. I'm always thinking of new designs, new sections, new information to include. It's a constant metamorphisis of digital goo, and I am the goo master! MUHAHAHAYUAHAHA!
...er, yeah. =]~

Ok -- so bear with me for this. I am trying to get things moving in the direction of
sponsors.
I need to test some out, and they need a positive response... or else they charge me a non-active fee. I'm giving it a shot, and they are retailers and sites that I normally recommend anyhow. I will hopefully have an expanded "Market Place" section where there will be different links for each category, such as
Movies, Music, Video Games, Computer Hardware, Computer Software, Car Parts/Mods and anything else that looks like it might have promise. There's even a sponsor (not available quite yet) who gives $4 to $50 to take surveys. Another is a new/used college supplies site that has everything from notepads to lamps and furniture with dorm rooms in mind.
I look forward to adding more interesting things soon, so keep checking back.
Now this certainly isn't creating a commercial feel -- it's all on a separate page, a
voluntary pop-up. Click the link and it opens. No sneaky stuff, and it's legit companies.
For now, I ask that you take a look - let me know if something isn't working right, if a sponsor's link isn't coming up right, or if it causes issues with anyone's browser. It's fairly straight coding, no sneaky javascript -- so shouldn't be any issues.
Especially check out
MusicMatch Jukebox - there's a free version, and if you want the additional abilities of ripping in high quality and burning - it's only $19.95. I bought my copy 2 years ago, and it's still eligible for all future updates.

I just got 2 new CDs:
Rammstein - Mutter, and
50 Cent's new one. I'm sure you've heard a few of his songs on the radio, probably figured it's just another gangsta wannabe. In a way he's picked up on Eminem's style, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. He's got a similar style, but a flavor all his own. He's brackish and focused on street-creed... that aside, the whole CD is really good.
I've had the new Rammstein in my head since I saw xXx, the movie may have been horrible... but the song and performance in the movie was great. The whole album is filled with intricate electronic beats and melodies, with overdrive guitar and heavy hitting percussion and throaty German vocals. What more could a true metal/industrial fan ask for? It doesn't get any more industrial then German industrial =]
I've also found an uncanny resemblance in the melodies between "Wanksta" and one of the Rammstein tracks... more to come, maybe even an industrial version of Wanksta...

Well I've been hankering to find
Cannibal: The Musical on DVD -- nothing at Blockbuster, FYE could order it, but it was going to be $24.95... so I tried Netflix, ordered it, says there's a short wait but at least they have it. I also found it at www.cduniverse.com (see above link) -- as they're my new favorite place to buy movies and music, I recommend going there for it.
If you haven't seen it, you really should.

OK... I'm all for convenience, but sometimes it's just too easy.
I heard a song on the radio earlier, it got stuck in my head. It was Swing Swing... or something similar from "...american... blah" I hopped on www.cduniverse.com and searched for new releases. (I used to use CDNOW until their selection grew sparse along with the information they provided about each album.) I saw "American Hi-Fi" on the list... I knew that wasn't it but clicked it anyhow. Sure enough in the
Customers who bought this item... also bought... section was All-American Rejects. I put that into my cart along with the previous selection of Evanescence that I had seen on the first page. I heard that it came out earlier in the week and I've been meaning to get it.
I've only heard 1 song from All-American Rejects, but they have kind of a Jimmy-Eat-World sound, and happy rock is always fun. They were both only $10, so I figured what the hell, might as well.
I was all set to check out, but I left my wallet in the car. No fear! PayPal is here, click click click, paid and on it's way.
I certainly do love this age we're living in.

Work seems to just make things more and more pleasant for the people in my department.
There are already lower-grade work conditions that we have to deal with, we have the same computers, but the "floor" has nice desks, comfortable chairs, TVs in the break room, better ventilation/air, more vending machines... nicer lighting, bunnies, no tacks on the toilet seats... now they say we can't have our laptops.
Technically they weren't allowed before, but we were able to use them on the condition of it wasn't hooked to the network, and it was just for music. Anything else was permitted on break, away from your desk. That sounds reasonable...
My one sanity amidst the wash of issues I deal with every day is my music. I don't have a CD player, I don't have an MP3 player. I do have a minidisc player, but it's a pain to record music. Anyhow... as far as I was aware, no one had abused the privilege to this point but now it's ruined for everyone.
.:sigh:. No appreciation :(
I wonder if there are actually people out there who do things like work on their web page instead of working. I myself wait until my breaks to update, or rant... of course the times are all over the place, I like to arbitrarily set the time either forward or backward. I figure if I'm ever elected president (and that is one of my goals) and they want to use my old web page as evidence or something, they'd have a hard time proving where I was at any point and time.

I feel great today.
Yesterday I wasn't feeling so chipper.
I still have the issues I had yesterday - trying to get blood from a stone, or money from an unemployed house mate... and a less-than friendly action by said house-mate, in combination with previous events became a conglomerate glob of goo that just ate away at my sanity for most of the day yesterday.
I got home, went to bed -- and got a decent amount of sleep. Life is much easier when you're fully fueled.
I discussed the issue(s) with my other house mate, he'll speak to him today regarding his choice of employment (whatever he can get, per us). I was able to voice my feelings, get some backing for future payback... and now feel as though I'm not the only one bearing the issue.
Some talking will still come of it, but our house has a multi-tiered discussion environment. When it comes to money, and sensitive emotional issues, certain individuals have a way of speaking to each other that is more compatible then if it was coming from someone else.
In this way we help each other get the point across in the manner we so desire without putting things in a way that might make someone else upset, usually by being misunderstood.
...and having my head cleared of said glob of goo leaves it available for things like homework, and work, and the
here and now as opposed to the
already done, still has more to go.
Oh -- and today is Lent. I'm not really hip to the Mystic Catholicism that is the topic of discussion on such a day.
I remember being like 8 - having to go to Ash Wednesday with my baby sitters after school as they were Catholic. I had no idea what was going on, saw these people with the goo on their heads and wanted to laugh. At the same time I wasn't sure if they were going to make me do it, and didn't want this religious thing on my head. I knew I couldn't laugh because it was their church, I got scared, and pulled my winter hat down over my head so I couldn't see but an outline of people. My babysitter was rather short with me, telling me to take it off - but I wouldn't. I couldn't explain it, but figured them being mad for me being silly would be better then everyone being mad for busting out laughing at their religious custom.
