Here for the cellphone haikus? submit - [email] [im]

Well I had a great weekend =] Friday night was a very eventful evening, I went to an older friend Dan's birthday party. It was at the local American Legion, which may not sound like much... but there were a lot of people, all different ages. They had food, drinks at the bar... and all different kinds of music. After a few drinks I was able to get some people up and dancing. I had started the evening with plans on swooning a young lady that I had my eye on for a while now. Angela (Dan's daughter) was there with her boyfriend, and her friend (who was the one that I had my eye on). They had already been drinking a bit when I got there. Her friend was pretty trashed, Angela was doing pretty good, as was her other friend. I proceeded to get them all up and dancing. Angela's boyfriend just sat there saying stupid chauvinistic things like he normally does... I was just dancing having a good time, usually with Angela. She danced well, we did a little swing, the twist... and were having a great time. As the night went on I noticed that Lee really wasn't all that interested, but Angela was much more attentive. I might not have noticed anything if I hadn't mentioned the inattentiveness of Lee to Angela's Dad who hinted that she might not be... but Angela certainly was - "she has a good time with you". I was reluctant, but how often do you get a push in the right direction like that? I figured I'd test the theory and I tried to get her to get her boyfriend on the floor, dance with him a little - "No... I don't like him." ...and there it was, the little twinkle in her eye - BING!

So the evening goes on, people disperse and Angela and friends come back to my place to hang out. Her boyfriend came too, but it was a package deal, so figured "eh, what the heck". We got back to my place, hung out, played some XBox, and were having a generally good time in-between stupid comments from "schmuck-head". I went upstairs to grab a controller from my room, Angela went upstairs to go to the bathroom. I stopped her before she went back down, mentioned what a nice evening it had been, and thanked her. It's odd because my first impression was negligible, I had met her a few times before and her true self hadn't really shown through, I told her that too... and gave her a hug. She went back downstairs, I went down right after. Her boyfriend somewhat flipped, he got all huffy said they were leaving, grabbed everyone and left. They were outside for a moment or two after and he mentioned something about "respect". So I'm figuring he thought something happened upstairs... suspicious little koot. =]

It was a good evening, I don't regret anything that happened as her boyfriend is a tool... I never liked him from the first time I met him, and I think she'll be coming around. We'll see how things go. She's very pretty, reminds me of my last girlfriend a bit in that respect. There was much less to that girl, however. I think Angela has a lot more going for her, but I'm not going to dig a hole this early on. =]

I'm just hopeful, it's been a while since I've had an opportunity, let alone one endorsed by her parents ;)

Check out some fun signs.

I updated the phone page, it now fits the theme.

I'd like to coin the phrase - "cellphone zen" just let it be known =]

...and speaking of text messaging. Warner Brothers is now allowing people to download (for a fee) MP3s of previously unreleased material.

Sha*ZAM! I would like to start a WAP (wireless web) section on the site::
I was writing someone a quick little note via SMS when I got an idea: cellphone poetry.
It's short, sweet, truncated for quick entry... and something to do when snake just don't cut it.

I'd like submissions to start things out, they'll be posted in a special low bandwidth (text-only, to start) section.
e-mail or im them to me
Send anything you get via cell that you'd like to share, for example - I get quotes sent to my phone every day:
"The best way to cheer yourself up is to try to cheer somebody else up." -Mark Twain

Go ahead and truncate, abbreviate... whatever you need to do to make entry and transfer quick and easy. I'm looking for haikus, poetry, notes, observations... anything. I won't post any identifying information unless specifically requested. Check back for a temporary link to what I've got so far, I'll incorporate it into the site and position it depending on the submissions and feedback I receive. I plan to have WAP links, info, and browseable content readable on-the-go.

Well I had a damn fun weekend =]

I spent Friday at the mall after doing errands and whatnot. I picked up a few things for the house and some clothes for myself. I caught the clearance racks at most places, accidentally hit a few sales... it was a good day to go. Later that evening we went hoppin in downtown Springfield. I finally saw what the big deal was with the 'Gra, caught a shower show... interesting, though almost surreal. Since we were with my buddy, we just waltzed into most places. They knew him and didn't even bother us because we were with him. I didn't get carded except for the one place that you needed to be 25 to get in, and we still made it through there. I tried my favorite shot to date: a red-headed slut headed to a few more bars, checked out the Hot Club and danced for a bit... really a great time. I can see how they want to extend the night hours of the bars downtown, 2 o clock came and everyone just hung around as no one wanted to go home, they were all having way too much fun =]~

Saturday Phil was all set to go skydiving. A few groups were able to go before him, but with cloudy skies for most of the day it just mainly a lot of waiting around and then running out of daylight. He at least got all the training out of the way, so he can just pop on a plane some day when it's clear out... and then leap to his death =o I just hung out for most of the day watching movies and playing the UT2003 demo (SCHWEEEEET!) against the house mates.

I started my new schedule yesterday, 9:30am-6pm. It really is amazing what having to be to work on the half hour does psychologically. I'm on schedule, on task, and feel like I'm on the right rhythm. I get out nice and early... hell, even had time for a jog in the park last night when I got home from work. I felt great because I haven't been able to run in so long... I just felt like I could do it, I went at a moderate pace and took it easy. It was actually enjoyable, not like excercise at all.

Tonight I'm going to meet up with my buddy Jay later on, the plan is Boston Billards around 11:30 or so. It's always fun playing pool with Jay, reminicent of when the whole group used to go back in the day. Phil, Jess, Angela, Jay and I... I miss those days, but people move on with their lives, things and people change. I'm trying to get out and about more often. This being at home is great and all, but I haven't met anyone new in quite a long time, and I don't know any available and eligable young ladies currently... I figure if I get out my chances are a lot better then someone showing up on my doorstep =]

Time has proven itself ellusive, once again. It seems that a problem in the house is that there's so much to do. Everyone gets bored easily, too. If that's the least of our problems, I think we're home-free. ^-^ I spent some of last night getting the network to finally work, then of course had to test it with some fun fun multiplayer shooting goodness: Tactical Ops (Unreal Engine) & Medal of Honor (Quake Engine).
Tactical Ops is really quick, much like Swat 3, Medal of Honor's levels are too big for 3 people, and it's easy to get taken down. Nothing seems to match Unreal Tournament yet, though we should be playing the UT2003 demo soon, so we'll see how that goes.

It's my weekend again, time passes quickly. I realize I miss school every semester that I don't go. Summer classes were great because it was overall such a short ammount of time. I hope there's less going on when it's time for spring classes. There's still a lot of hubub, people always stopping by... hanging out. I went to go play pool the other night, but that was the first time I'd been out and about for at least a week or two. It's different, but I like chilling at home.

    post://85457378/

Another day, another 8 hours here at work. I got a new cellphone - Motorola P280. The advent of GPRS technology is upon us, it's only 2.75 extra a month (1mb transfer, 40 cents each additional mb) for the data with Voicestream/T-Mobile. I was sucessfully able to dial up via iR from my laptop @ 9.6k, so it's not required to use with a Palm or laptop. I don't quite know the details yet, but I imagine you should be able to get 40-50k via GPRS.

I got a call yesterday from the Satelite internet installer. The dish is going to be slightly bigger then a normal TV dish, they plan to mount it at seccond floor level, it's $100 more if they have to put it on a pole in the ground, or up higher on the house. The earliest I could get an appointment was October 4th, so I should be online and back in business by then. I hope to get to some more web stuff then I have been. I find it hard to sit still and work on it, but once I get in a groove I can't stop until I finish what I'm working on. If I'm doing graphics or whatnot, I can't just stop in the middle, I forget what combination of filters I was using... or how I blended layers or whatnot. That's what happened with the bubbles, they're all similar, but being done at different times they're just a little bit different.

I would like to do a redesign, the current design worked so well for what I started out doing, I think I'll get rid of the windows and words down at the bottom, maybe create another background and create a different theme, along the lines of the bubbles, the links embedded in the graphic background that jump out when you roll over them. I like the non-conventional.

The rating I got a while ago made me think about the feel of the site, what I have here for download, viewing, and what my "mission statement" would be. I am offereing media for the most part, things to think about, that I've thought about - and things I just plain want to say. I like to call it "digital media to stimulate the serotonin". Serotonin being one of the main chemicals released in the brain to create a pleasant feeling of well being, or happiness, if you will. I share the things that make me happy, experiences, people, places, pictures, music, movies... or that have given me some sort of catharsis for the better. I want to share the happiness that I find in every day things. I'm often referred to as being "amused with simple things". If you're amused with simple things, then it doesn't take much to make you happy. That's a good thing.

Phenylalanine is something that jumped out at me from a box of mints. It had a large warning for "phenylketylneurics" people who are intolerant of phenylalanine. I then noticed it was in Diet Coke and other drinks, candies, etc. It's also a chemical present in the brain that works closely with serotonin, so it went with the theme.

Because it's such an obscure word, a search on Google for "phenylalanine" in combination with "music" or "movies" brings up my site as the 3rd or 4th result. A clever marketing ploy, I must say. =]

I have a hankering to create, clever ideas for menus... but nothing to put on the other end of those menus, not enough content :] Function and form, fusion... fabooo.

Whoo dilly. Thurs/Fri/Sat off and it did me well. All the stress of the past 2 weeks chilled and slept away. I woke up, hopped out of bed, and was off to a good start. Starting off on a Sunday makes it a bit easier, I kind of ease into the week. I'll be starting my new 9:30-6pm schedule as of next Sunday, get out a bit earlier. I've bought a winter beater - 89 Mercury Tracer. It's a little hatch back, 4 cyl, standard -- should be fun.

Nothing much interesting since last entry. It's really hard without having internet at home. I keep wanting to get the satellite going, I'm sure everyone else in my house does as well -- however, I'm waiting on my credit cards to make sure I'm not digging too deep of a hole. No one else seems to understand that, and as soon as I refrain from spending some money on a seemingly superfluous thing... I'm a scrooge.

I had a really crazy dream last night, very vivid and full of feeling. I was going on a vacation "it's a cabin right on the beach, well, almost an island. You have to cross a little sand bar to get to it, wade through a little water..." as it was described to me it was created in front of my eyes and I started wading to the island. There was a large tower, you could see the cabin behind it and I got the feeling this was an exclusive beach from the looks I received from the other people already there. I figured I'd investigate the tower, climbed up it a bit. I'd describe it as a 100ft lifeguard chair. I could see 3 young ladies down below, they waved and started walking over. One in particular stood ahead of the others, her hair shoulder length, maybe less... and falling over her face in one felt swoop. She'd often flick it back before she'd give a look that just made her face shimmer. It made me smile just looking at her. We climbed up together and sat for quite some time. A storm was coming in - we could see the clouds approach and way in the distance a giant wave. We figured it was time to get down so began to climb but by the time we were about halfway down the wave was already on us. It swept everyone away but we held fast on the chair, holding on through the wave, and then resuming climbing down. We weren't hurrying, nor were we scared, just waltzed hand in hand to the cabin. We got inside and there was one of my housemates pointing to the Madden 2000 cardboard cutout in the corner - "we brought this one". I was then upstairs of the cabin, but it was a house much like mine now. The baby blue walls were paneling, and it was smashed in, a large hole in the wall with stairs behind it. It looked like it used to be a staircase, but had since had a wall put up. Someone had found the secret. I couldn't resist investigating and by the first set of stairs could see a poker table with chairs, cards and chips still scattered around it on the landing below. I didn't dare go any further because it looked like another apartment.

The vacation was over, I was back at my house. My house mate's car was completely stripped, not even on blocks, on the street. The doors were torn off, windows smashed, completely gutted. There weren't even any rotors on the wheels. It was a sad feeling, there was a guy from work there, said "Damn man, they don got you good".

I woke up shortly thereafter. Strange, but there were some really good feelings in there along side the bad, good enough for me.

Well I'm here at a big data entry party of sorts here at work. I worked 12 hours yesterday, again today, and hopefully a little less tomarrow. We are really ahead as of yesterday, but a whole bunch of orders can come in overnight - so we'll see how things look tomarrow. Why do I mention this? It's most likely one of the factors that is driving me to maddness. Ok... a tad dramatic, but I'm good for that. I haven't slept much in the past week, and I'm currently sitting in my chair with a large rubber ball, voodoo doll, and Sebulba Kush taped to my head for the "crazy hat" contest. I'm just having fun with that, but the maddness thing -- I just feel really stressed, I'm worrying about silly little things with the house. I'm just really touchy, someone might say something without meaning it to be hurtful, mean, or insulting -- but I'll take it as such. Last night I kept thinking I was hearing things that I wasn't -- people talking in the other room, etc. I'm worrying about money I've spent over the past month, future bills... in short I think my issue is I'm worrying to much. There is stuff that needs to be done in a timely manner, however. If I don't at least take some action to get those things done it can cause issues -- it's not just me living in my place any more, there's other people to think about.

    ^- yesterday, today -v

Yesterday when I got home I was ready to just hit the sack. I was so tired, figured I'd be able to go to sleep right off. No such luck -- the sheer ammount of caffeine I consumed durring the day said otherwise. I hung out for a while, things were much better with the house mates... so there's a little less stress gone :]

We got the network up and running - played a little UT last night... there's just no beating a good FPS LAN game.
Can't wait to get home and relax.

I'm here at work again, typing notes from the old accounts into the new. The hard stuff is over, the tedious remains...

I received an email today that the Weblog Review had taken a look at my site. I was excited, but at the same time wondered if they'd be able to navigate the site properly. Up until now I've been semi-private, letting a few people in on the "secret of the bubbles" and leaving it at that. You might have noticed this has changed. This way no one will miss it. The old way of navigation is still there because I like multiple ways to do things... however the bubbles are the more artistic way to view the site's content.

I certainly wasn't expecting the review, I think it was at least 6 months ago that I submitted it for review. Had I known it was coming up... I might have spruced things up a bit... but then again maybe not - with all the moving, doing work on the house, cleaning, and partying... hard to find time to work on the 'ol website. I enjoy it when I am able... and with my new computer desk and chair in the mail I'll have a nice little studio set up soon enough. Maybe I can get back into it. I sent an email to the Weblog Review, hoping for an addendum to the review after fixing the index page. I can imagine things looked pretty bad otherwise =]

Satalite internet on the horizon, nothing for the time being. It'll be interesting, but no online gamings :( Although it's a 2 way system, I was reading on CNET that it takes at least a seccond to send from the dish to the satalite itself, making the ping too high for some applications, but fine for buffered video, webpages, and general downloading. I'm looking into Circuit City's DirectPC which looks like it's going to be about $250 for equipment and installation, $50 a month thereafter. With the offerings from Earthlink and Starlink, that seems to be the best deal going.

    post://85409817/

I went up to VT this weekend. My mom bought a condo and was living in it for the summer. She was going to be renting it as of the 1st, so this was really my last chance to see it before she rents it out for a year. I have Fri/Sat off, so drove up Friday after having some cavities filled. They only stuck me with about 5 needles of novicane -- so most of my face was motionless for the rest of the day... which was ok cause I was only driving. The condo was nice, lots of room and it's close to my sister and her family in Jerico. My brother is fairly closeby in Fletcher - where I was born.

I made plans with my brother to go kyaking in the morning, woke up and went out on the local pond. It was my first time trying it... I had fun. I got the hang of it pretty quickly and was wizzing around the pond. It was really relaxing. I then went to lunch at my sister's. It was a crazy hectic house, but there was only 1 kid so it wasn't as hectic as usual. Normally my 2 nieces, 2 nephews, and their 2 dogs are running around. My sister fed me, stocked me up with vegitables and assorted food... and I was on my way. I got home with time to spare and grabbed the last loads from my old apt. It was weird, or maybe just my old house mate was weird... and some strange loud man watching the door as I came in. ...whatever. I grabbed my stuff, gave her the keys... and I was gone. *whew*

I had to work Sunday, but had yesterday off like everyone else in the house. So we went shopping! We were so productive, I'm still in disbelief ;) I got curtains, rugs, house supplies, bathroom stuff, kitchen stuff, a TV stand, speaker wire, and a computer desk. I spent so much money... but it was all worth it, and it was all done at once. I also grabbed some steaks. When we got back we went through the list of stuff, tallied what everyone owed after splitting it... and started putting things together in between cooking. Everyone's sharing, respectful and things are really nice so far. It's truly a home, the cats are even somewhat getting along -- they coexist in the same room, at least - it's all coming together.
